- What about Omega 3 from other sources like algae or krill?
The human body can only convert between 0.1% to 0.4% of the precursor ALA into the needed omega 3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA). Because of that, using plant-based omega 3 sources like algae or linseed oil will not give you a sufficient supply. Krill oil is often blended with fish or squid oil from unknown sources to reach moderate but still low EPA/DHA levels. Also, krill stock is decreasing, and it is the main food resource for many marine mammals, seabirds and other fish – if we want to guarantee biodiversity for following generations it is more than important to produce sustainably, so please make sure your omega 3 product is certified with the label of MSC for sustainability.
- My fish oil used to have a dark capsule and was flavored – why is yours different?
Quick and easy – we use only fresh fish oil with super low oxidation levels, there is nothing to hide or mask in our product, it tastes and smells almost neutral like a high-quality product should.
- What should I look for in a fish oil brand?
Always make sure that you can find out where the raw material is coming from – some questions we would ask are: Where is the fish caught and how? How is the safety status – does the label have any security certifications? Does the distributing company offer any reports on contaminations like PCBs or heavy metals?
- Do I have to be worried about heavy metal levels or other contaminants in your fish oil?
No, you don´t – we only use the best available fish oil on the market, and we can provide bulletproof safety reports. We want everyone to only consume safe supplements without any compromises.
- What are the benefits for my sportive performance?
Resulting from hard workouts like HIIT or Elite Fitness, micro-lesions appear in our muscles. which could lead to inflammations, a delayed recovery and typical muscular pains.
The body is using Omega 3 fatty acids as building blocks for our cell membranes and is making them flexible and smooth. Furthermore, the body is using fatty acids to synthesize eicosanoids, substances similar to hormones, which are playing a big role in fighting inflammation.
- How do I take fish oil?
We suggest to make it part of your daily routine – you can take the capsules together with dinner or lunch or last thing before going to bed, together with our magnesium:zinc product for deep & recovering sleep.
- Why do I get nasty burps from some fish oil products?
The freshness of fish oil is measured with the “totox” (total oxidation value), the lower this value the fresher the product is. A cheap Omega 3 product with a high totox or an already rancid fish oil will cause a reflux ending up in a nasty burp. From a high-quality product like ours, you won´t get any burps unless you force your body to burp by drinking lots of sparkling water to swallow the capsules.
- There are a lot of cheap fish oil supplements in the drugstore – what is the difference between them and your Omega 3 product?
Most of those products are only cheap at first glance. Always make sure to calculate the price based on what you actually get – how much do you really pay for 1000 mg of fish oil? Most of the time, you will pay much more. We bet! Last but not least – quality has its price and your body is the only one you will have in this life. The harm from fish oil from dubious resources could outweigh the expected benefits by far!
- What is MSC?
The mission of the MSC is to use its ecolabel, for which the MSC receives royalties for licensing it to products, and fishery certification program to contribute to the health of the world’s oceans by recognizing and rewarding sustainable fishing practices.
- Why do you combine 2 different magnesium forms?
By using a combination of 2 magnesium forms, our product provides multiple benefits: the magnesium taurinate is great for cardiovascular health and the magnesium bisglycinate has a calming effect on muscles and nerves and will aid a deep & relaxing sleep.
- What is bioavailability and why it is so important?
Bioavailability is a value that measures how much of the intaken substance enters the body and how much is actually having an active effect. Magnesium bisglycinate and taurinate have a very high bioavailability (up to 90%), other cheaper magnesium forms like magnesium oxide a very low (4%). The lower the score, the more magnesium doesn´t make it into your body and ends up down the drain.
- Is your product vegan?
- Why should I use Mg:Zn:B6?
It will make you recover faster, aid a deep sleep and enhance your endurance performance.
- Does it improve my sleep?
Magnesium bisglycinate has a calming effect on your muscles and nerves, it will aid a deep & relaxing sleep when you take it just before going to bed.
- I can find a lot of cheaper magnesium supplements in the drugstore – what is the difference between them and your product?
Cheap magnesium products have very low bioavailability and most of the time are a “one-trick-pony”. We have a multi-component product since we use 2 different magnesium forms with a very high bioavailability score. Additionally, we refine our product with zinc and B6 which have great benefits for your body as well.
- The human body is designed to obtain Vitamin D3 from the sun, why should I supplement it?
Spending 20 minutes in direct sunlight initiates Vitamin D3 synthesis in the skin (around 400 IU, which is not enough for your daily supply), but absorbing 400IU is only feasible in midsummer around lunch time without sunscreen. But who wants to risk an older-looking skin or skin cancer in worst case? Besides that, in winter time sun rays are not strong enough to release Vitamin D3 synthesis. You can also get Vitamin D3 from food – in the oil made from tuna liver, or halibut. However, to get a sufficient supply you have to eat at least 800 grams.
- Why is it so important to have a Vitamin D3 product which is combined with oil?
Science has proven that combining Vitamin D3 and monounsaturated fat, like coconut or olive oil, leads to a much better absorption.
- Some studies show that supplementation with Vitamin D3 helps with weight loss. Is that true?
A study from the University of Milan found that supplementing Vitamin D3 led to weight loss in obese and overweight people who had a deficiency in Vitamin D3.
- Why do we need Vitamin D3?
Each and every tissue in your body needs Vitamin D3 and won´t work if you don´t get enough – a deficiency can also lead to serious chronic diseases like high blood pressure, osteoporosis and several forms of cancer.
- How can Vitamin D3 have an impact on my athletic performance?
Strong bones are equally as important as strong muscles – and a Vitamin D3 deficiency can lead to osteoporosis and muscle weakness. Also, if you are sick less often, you can work out consistently with better results! Since Vitamin D3 is boosting your immune system, you can counteract typical diseases like flu or cold.
- Why do you use whey from Ireland and not organic whey from regional producers?
Do you think your organic-milk-giving cow is living a happy life? Sorry to say, but that´s not true: the average organic 650-800kg milk-cow is living a life on 10.5 square meter only. Also tethered housing is allowed for small herds as well!
In Ireland, the average herd is 70 cows only and influenced by the Gulf Stream a mild temperate climate and rich, lush meadows are given, with allows to keep cows outdoors for over 300 days each year.
- What is the difference between whey protein concentrate and whey protein hydrolysate?
Whey protein concentrate is the cheapest form since it hasn´t gone through several filtration stages, it includes low fat, carbs and lactose, which is a serious problem for an increasing number of people.
Throughout various processing stages including ultra-filtration all unwanted whey-components such as fat, carbs or lactose are removed to get a finished purified high protein with low carb and fat product, which is not only important if you want to build up lean muscle mass but also helps your body to digest it! Because it doesn´t have to digest a lot of fat or carbs it is able to absorb more rapidly than a concentrate or isolate and makes our GoPrimal whey protein hydrolysate one of the fastest-digesting and best form.
- Why and when should I take a protein shake?
Protein is used for the production of muscles – without adequate protein, our bodies can’t put together the structures that make up every cell, tissue, and organ.
After your workout is one of the best times to get protein into the body so that the protein can be delivered to your muscles and begin the process of healing the “micro tears” in the muscle (very small tears in the muscle tissue, caused by contraction of the muscle during hard workout).
Solid food like chicken breast take more time to digest and to break down the protein and send it to the muscles, it´s much more convenient to take a protein shake immediately following a workout, since a shake only takes about 30 minutes to reach the muscles after ingestion.
In case you are one of the many persons who prefer sleeping some additional minutes than preparing breakfast, a protein shake is also a great option as a snack in the morning but also between meals.
- Is sucralose safe to use?
Short and simple – YES. Sucralose is a long-time used sweetener and reconfirmed by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) as safe to use without a doubt. Maybe one of your friends told you something about sucralose and gut flora? Or even worst, you GOOGLED sucralose and found yourself on some sites full of those non-scientific citations, out of a single study with rodents, using an extremely high dose (80 mg/kg/day) of sucralose which would be equivalent to drinking 90 diet cokes. Per day. Well, I think you got our point!
- When I used to drink protein shakes in the past, I had a bloated stomach or had to fart like an old pirate– will this happen with your whey as well?
A bloated stomach or some smells which could bring you into embarrassing situations are often caused by a low-grade lactose intolerance. which leads to problems when using cheap Whey protein (usually concentrate or a blend of concentrate Isolate, as used in many so called “Whey protein isolate-blends”). Additionally, it might be caused by the carbs and fat in Whey protein concentrates which your body must digest as well – since we only use high quality protein hydrolysate which is fast and easy to digest you will be safe!
